What do activities look like in assisted living at Hemmingson Senior Living? This October, they looked like a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins. Residents from our Coeur d'Alene campus spent the day at Beck's Harvest House on Green Bluff with family and members of our team, and it was a good picture of how activities work in our assisted living in Coeur d'Alene.
What activities do assisted living residents enjoy at Hemmingson?
Hemmingson Senior Living plans activities every week, including outings, social events, clubs and educational programs.
Some of our favorite outings follow the seasons around the Inland Northwest. Recently it was the fall sunflowers at The Coeur d'Alene Resort. This time it was pumpkin season on Green Bluff, where the farms set out rows of pumpkins and fill their shops with fall decorations.
What did residents do at the pumpkin patch?
Mostly, they took their time. One resident walked the rows looking for the right pumpkins and filled a wheelbarrow with her picks. Inside the seasonal shop, two friends found a bench under the fall leaves and shared a good laugh.
Do families join assisted living activities?
On this outing, several residents had family with them.
One resident spent the day with her son, and another resident's family came along to see the pumpkins with her. You can also read one resident family's story in their own words.
Who from the Hemmingson team comes along?
The same people residents see every day. On this trip, that included Dana, our Director of Nursing, and Abegail, our Dietary Manager.
A day out is easier to enjoy when it is spent with familiar faces, and it gives our team time with residents and their families away from the usual routine.
